PRE-TRIAL CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR TURKISH CITIZEN

 

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted a proposal for a 30-day pre-trial custody measure for the suspect Deniz Yaman*, born in 2000 in Turkey, a citizen of Turkey. He is suspected of having gone to the Trebinje area in a rented vehicle on 21 June of this year, upon previous agreement and in order to acquire unlawful material gain, where he picked up 22 illegal migrants, citizens of Bangladesh who had illegally entered Bosnia and Herzegovina from Montenegro, with the intention of smuggling them further through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was discovered and prevented from committing the criminal offense by police officers of the BiH Border Police, Trebinje Border Police Unit. The custody measure was proposed for the reasons prescribed in Article 132, paragraph 1, item a) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely due to the risk of flight of the suspect, who is a foreign citizen. He is charged with the criminal offense of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina ordered pre-trial custody against the suspect.

 

 

INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

 

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an Indictment against Vinko Ivanković *, born in 1998 in Mostar, residing in Široki Brijeg, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia. He is charged with acquiring a large amount of cut tobacco, without the corresponding excise stamps, in the amount of about 230 kilograms, with a total value of BAM 40,124.42, on 10 July 2025, in the area of ​​Visoko. For the purpose of further sale, he was transporting the said tobacco in a motor vehicle, but he was discovered and prevented from committing the criminal offense by police officers of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Ministry of the Interior, Visoko Police Station, and the said tobacco was confiscated. The accused is charged with having attempted to put into circulation cut tobacco that was not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby committing the criminal offense of Illicit Trade in Excise Products under Article 210a, paragraph 1, in conjunction with Article 26 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
