INDICTMENT FILED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING OF PERSONS

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed an indictment against Omer Faruk Inanc*, born in 1996 in Koyulhisar, and Abdullah Elmus*, born in 2000 in Halep, citizens of Türkiye. It is alleged against them that on 18 September last year, in the area of Gacko, with the aim of acquiring illicit property gain, they took over 12 migrants, including nine minors, citizens of Iran and Egypt, who had previously been smuggled from Montenegro to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and placed them in a van with the intention of transporting them, but were stopped and prevented from doing so by the Border Police of BiH. They are charged with having transported smuggled persons, including minors, and thus enabling them to stay in BiH, whereby they committed the criminal offence of Smuggling of persons as set out in Article 189 (4) of the Criminal Code of BiH, as read with paragraph 2 thereof, and all in conjunction with Article 29 of the same Code.

 

 

REPRESENTATIVES OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BiH PARTICIPATE IN THE CONSIDERATION OF THE DRAFT EXPERT MANUAL

Representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, along with officers of police agencies, participated in the consideration of the draft Manual for police officers for dealing with cases in the field of small arms and light weapons.

Good experiences and examples from practice were exchanged at the meeting along with specific proposals for improving this document. The manual is designed as a practical tool that will contribute to the more efficient work of police officers in conducting investigations and cooperation between the Prosecutor’s Office and the police. The activities are being carried out within the framework of the project which the UNDP has been implementing in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

 

SPECIALIST TRAINING HELD IN THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH

In the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, as part of the EUPA4BiH project, a specialist training was held. Ten investigators from the Department for Investigations and Witness Support, two analysts from the Analytics Section and four legal officers providing support to prosecutors participated in it. The trainers were police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA, and the training related to joint cooperation and communication in the process of conducting criminal investigations for organised crime and other serious crimes.

The topics of the training related to the use of specialist tools for criminal investigations and the use of analytical capacities for graphical presentations of data.
