DELEGATIONS OF THE EUROPEAN PUBLIC PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE (EPPO), EUROJUST AND EUROPOL VISIT BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH

The activities that took place relate to the workshop on confiscation of unlawfully acquired assets and the implementation of requirements from the EU in this segment, in which prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH with experience in this field participated as panellists and presenters.
On the second day of the visit, a working meeting was held at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, which was dedicated to the activities of international cooperation in the process of confiscation of unlawfully acquired assets.
Along with the representatives of EPPO and EUROJUST, the chief prosecutors of the Republika Srpska Public Prosecutor’s Office (RJT), the Prosecutor’s Office of the Federation of BiH, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Brčko District of BiH and the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Sarajevo Canton participated in the working meeting, as well as representatives of the EUPA4BiH and EU4Justice projects.
The meeting discussed practical examples of good practices in this area, as well as the experiences and the EU standards that are applied in this subject matter, analysed good examples of practice in the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, as well as the problems identified in practice that the respective prosecutor’s offices in Bosnia and Herzegovina come across, because of deficiencies in the legislation. A special emphasis is placed on crypto-currencies, that is, tracking and confiscation of crypto-currencies acquired through illegal activities.
