INDICTMENT FILED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENCE OF SMUGGLING OF PEOPLE

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina filed an indictment against Tolunay Ayaz*, born in 1995 in Istanbul, a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, and Yavuz Selim Demirhan*, born in 2001 in Maltepe, a citizen of the Republic of Türkiye. They are accused of accepting 12 migrants, citizens of the Republic of Türkiye, including three minors, on 18 September of this year, with the intention of transporting them to the territory of the Republic of Croatia, where they were discovered and prevented by members of the BiH Border Police, in the town of Vinjani near the state border. It is alleged against the defendants that they, with the intention of acquiring illicit property gain, tried to enable the crossing of persons who did not meet the conditions for legal crossing of the border, whereby they committed the criminal offence of smuggling of people under Article 189 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with Articles 26 and 29 of the same Code.

EXTENSION OF CUSTODY MEASURE IN ORGANISED CRIME CASE PROPOSED

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a motion to extend the custody measure for another three months for the suspect Stojan Vasiljević *, born in 2001 in Bijeljina, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to extend the custody measure for another two months for the suspect Nenad Jovičić*, born in 1987 in Sarajevo, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (b) and (c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH. The suspects are under investigation in the “Elmedin Karišik et al*.” case, because of the existence of a grounded suspicion that they committed the criminal offence of organised crime set out in Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with the criminal offence of obstruction of justice set out in Article 241 of the Criminal Code of BiH, grievous bodily harm set out in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH, the criminal offence of grave offences against personal safety and property set out in Article 328 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH, in conjunction with the criminal offence of causing public danger set out in Article 323 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of BiH.

The manual for police officers’ handling of crimes related to small arms and light weapons, developed in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, was presented at the meeting of representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Tuzla on 16 October 2025 with representatives of SIPA, Federation Police Department, Police of Brčko District of BiH and representatives of the respective Ministries of the Interior of the Posavina Canton, Tuzla Canton and Zenica-Doboj Canton.
