INDICTMENT FILED AGAINST ARMIN BEGOVIĆ*
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an indictment against Armin Begović, born in 1997 in the Netherlands, a citizen of both Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He is charged with ordering 410.052 grams of the Cannabis narcotic drug from abroad, which he paid for in cryptocurrency. Having taken over the shipment, he was deprived of liberty in the area of the Brčko District by the police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During a search of the suspect’s apartment, a total of 87 boxes, each containing 30 tablets of Xalol, a substance that has been declared a narcotic drug, were also found and temporarily seized.
The defendant is charged with committing the criminal offense of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, referred to in Article 195, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the criminal offense of Unauthorized Production and Distribution of Narcotics, referred to in Article 232, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
