EXHUMATION PROCESS CARRIED OUT IN VLASENICA AREA
On 22 August, an exhumation process was carried out at the location of Jelovački Potok, in the Municipality of Vlasenica, in the course of which the remains of two persons were found and transferred to the Tuzla Commemorative Center for further forensic and medical processing and identity determination through DNA analysis. The process of exhumation was led by an investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and attended by a forensic expert-pathologist, and a representative of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as police officers who secured the location.
INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE GOODS
The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an indictment against Milorad Medan* aka Miko, born in 1984, in Ljubinje. He is charged with having procured, in the course of 2022 and in a manner known to him, a larger quantity of cut tobacco, namely around 460 kilograms of cut tobacco without excise stamps, which he transported in a motor vehicle he was driving in the area of Goražde, but he was discovered and prevented by the police officers of the Bosna-Podrinje Canton Ministry of the Interior in Goražde.
The accused is charged with attempting to put into circulation products that are not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby committing the criminal offense of Illicit Trade in Excise Goods, referred to in Article 210a, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
EXHUMATION CARRIED OUT IN JAJCE AREA
At the location of Rahmanovo-Kruščica in the Municipality of Jajce, almost complete mortal remains of one person were exhumed upon the instructions given by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and pursuant to an order issued by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The remains, which were found near the surface of the ground, will be transported to the Visoko City Cemeteries, for further forensic and medical processing and in order to determine the identity of the missing person through DNA analysis. The exhumation was led by an investigator from the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the process was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Missing Persons Institute (MPI) of Bosnia and Herzegovina and representatives of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as police officers who secured the exhumation site.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
