The suspects were discovered on two occasions, while they were attempting to smuggle a total of 12 migrants, citizens of the Republic of Turkey.
  • CUSTODY PROPOSED AGAINST TWO FOREIGN CITIZENS FOR SMUGGLING OF MIGRANTS

In two separate cases, the duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina put forward a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking custody measure to be ordered against the following suspects:

- Ahmet Silvanli, born in 1989 in Giresun, in Turkey, a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, who is suspected of smuggling nine (9) illegal migrants, and

- Mustafa Unsal Umit, born in 1982 in Ankara, in the Republic of Turkey, a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, who is suspected of smuggling three (3) migrants.

The custody measure was proposed due to the risk of the suspects’ flight, since they would become unavailable to the judicial authorities should they leave Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the commission of the crime, the suspects were discovered at two separate locations, one of which was in the border zone, in the area of the municipality of Velika Kladuša (9 migrants), and the other was in the place called Ivanica, in the border zone of the municipality of Ravno (3 migrants). The suspects were subsequently deprived of liberty and, along with a report on the committed criminal offence, they were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further processing.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner agencies, are permanently undertaking activities in preventing illegal migrations and prosecuting crimes related to illegal migrations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
