AN EXTENSIVE POLICE OPERATION IN THE FIGHT AGAINST ORGANIZED CRIME IS BEING CARRIED OUT UPON THE ORDER OF THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE OF BIH

09.10.2013. 13:40
Upon the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, an extensive police operation, involving police officers of Sarajevo Canton MoI and WHC MoI-Ljubuški, is being carried out. This investigation aims at shedding light on dozens of thefts of expensive BMW vehicles.

The operation is being carried at a wider area of Ljubuški Municipality.

This action is aimed at detection and criminal prosecution of perpetrators of organized crime in conjunction with thefts of motor vehicles, forgery of documents and other crimes.

Searches are being carried out at four locations and evidence, documentation and the found parts of motor vehicles are being seized.

Four persons have been deprived of liberty. They are suspected to have, during the previous period, stolen vehicles and participated in illegal activities of forging documents for a number of vehicles, the total value of which exceeds half a million BAM.

Persons deprived of liberty will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of this case within a legal deadline. The Prosecutor will question them and then decide whether to file a motion for remand in custody or other prohibiting measures, in accordance with the law.

During the course of this operation, several stolen motor vehicles have been detected and these are mostly newer high-class vehicles, the individual value of which exceeds BAM 10,000.00.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH and police agencies will continue with investigation in this case aiming to indict and criminally prosecute the perpetrators of these criminal offenses.

The aim of such operations is to protect the property of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and reduce vehicle- related crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
