Chief Prosecutor informed the Ministers about the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH with regards to the signing of the Protocol on cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Offices of the neighboring countries Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro aiming to allow for the prosecution of criminal offenders who are located in neighboring countries.

The planned capacity increase of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, as well as its relocation to the new building were also discussed. Chief Prosecutor informed the Ministers that the representatives of the associations of war crimes victims have supported the increase in the number of prosecutors and capacities of the Prosecutor’s Office, at the recently held meetings, particularly in the Special Department for War Crimes.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH cooperates with law enforcement agencies at the state level, such as the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA, Border Police, the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Interpol, as well as other agencies of the Ministry of Security on regular basis.

Cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations is also important because it is within the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to prosecute criminal offenses related to Smuggling of Goods, Customs Fraud, Tax Evasion, Illicit Trafficking in Arms, Military Equipment and Dual-use Products, as well as other criminal offenses which are in line with the jurisdictions of the Ministry itself.

It was also agreed that cooperation between these institutions should be intensified in the future, as it will be crucial for the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon border with the European Union.
