CHIEF PROSECUTOR ATTENDS MEETING AND SIGNING OF WORKING ARRANGEMENT WITH EUROJUST IN THE HAGUE
08.10.2026. 15:31
This Working Arrangement details the modalities of cooperation between competent BiH authorities and Eurojust; a key element is the secondment of a Bosnia and Herzegovina Liaison Prosecutor to Eurojust, who will serve as a direct link between domestic judicial institutions and Eurojust.
This step represents significant progress in the fight against international and cross-border crime, placing BiH in a better operational position to cooperate with the EU Prosecutor’s Association.
The Working Arrangement also appoints two assistant liaison prosecutors from the prosecutor’s offices of Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and establishes contact points within the BiH Ministry of Justice and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH to facilitate faster operational information exchange; furthermore, it opens up the possibility of participation in Eurojust operational meetings and coordination centers. This creates mechanisms for more direct cooperation on specific cases requiring rapid and coordinated action by the judicial institutions of BiH and EU member states.
To date, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has participated in around ten Joint Investigation Teams involving multiple countries under the auspices of EUROJUST to combat various forms of organized international crime, and the signing of the Working Arrangement represents a significant step toward bringing Bosnia and Herzegovina closer to European standards and the EU judicial area.
This announcement does not prejudice the outcome of the criminal proceedings and does not violate the principle of the presumption of innocence. A person shall be considered innocent of a crime until guilt has been established by a final verdict (Article 3, paragraph 1 of the CPC BiH).
