INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR WAR CRIMES IN THE DOBOJ AREA

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Sead
Arnautović*, born in 1955 in Čelić, a citizen of BiH, and Samir Mehinović*,
born in 1963 in Doboj, a citizen of BiH. The accused are charged with having
acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention relative to the Treatment
of Prisoners of War during the war in BiH and the armed conflict between the
Army of BiH and the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) in the territory of the
municipality of Doboj, while acting in their capacities i.e. Sead Arnautović*
as commander of the 109th Doboj Brigade; Samir Mehinović* as
commander of the military police of the aforementioned brigade.
They are charged with having, during the period from 10 July to 15 July 1992, after capturing four members of the RS Army in two separate incidents, kept them imprisoned in the military police detention facilities in Klokotnica, in substandard premises, where they were subjected to daily physical and psychological abuse without being provided with medical assistance for their injuries, which was available in a nearby health center. As a result of torture, abuse, beatings and other inhumane treatment, and the failure to provide adequate medical assistance, one of the prisoners of war died. The accused are charged with committing the criminal offense of War Crimes against Prisoners of War under Article 175 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
