A COORDINATING MEETING OF THE BIH LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY SECREDIRECTORS, THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR AND THE TARY OF THE MINISTRY OF SECURITY OF BIH WAS HELD IN SARAJEVO

Activities concerning cooperation in the fight against organized crime, the situation in respect to visa-free regime and the forthcoming activities of law enforcement agencies in connection with the impending arrival of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the border with the EU were discussed at the meeting.

The coordinating meeting of the BiH Law Enforcement Agency Directors and the Chief Prosecutor was organized in Sarajevo by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, Goran Salihović, addressed the meeting participants and presented about the future priorities in work and cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH with Law Enforcement Agencies, particularly in the area of the fight against organized crime, corruption and crossborder cooperation in the region.

 

Joint police operations carried out in the fight against organized crime, by order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, with the aim of shedding some light on organized crime and a number of unsolved murders committed in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo in the past 10 years were also discussed.

 

Secretary of the Ministry of Security has presented about the situation and activities related to upholding the visa-free regime for BiH citizens and improvements concerning reduction in the number of illegal immigrants and false asylum seekers, as well as the necessity of full implementation of the Agreement on the establishment of a system of electronic data exchange between police authorities and prosecutor’s offices, as well as about future activities of the BiH institutions that are necessary to protect the visa-free regime for BiH citizens.

 

Given the anticipated entry of Croatia to EU, and the imminent Border Police tasks concerning work on border within the territory of the EU throughout a distance of about 1000 km, the representatives of the Border Police informed about the activities and preparations of Border police capacities of our country in terms of keeping a border with the European Union, which is expected to take place in several months, all in order to ensure a more efficient border traffic of both persons and goods in the future.

 

Representative of the BP presented about the activities and efforts of this agency in the fight against illegal migration through the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

The Service for Foreigners Affairs also informed the participants about its activities concerning the issue of illegal immigrants and the readmission process, aiming to prevent future illegal migration.

 

Directors of the police agencies and the Chief Prosecutor also discussed issues and activities related to their mutual cooperation in detection and criminal prosecution of perpetrators, as well as improvement of the security situation in light of the European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

Regular coordination meetings of the Police Directors and the Chief Prosecutor include the following attendees:

 

-          Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, Goran Salihović

 

-          Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies in BiH, Himzo Selimović

 

-          Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency - SIPA, Goran Zubac

 

-          Director of the BIH Border Police Vinko Dumančić

 

-          Director of the Service for Foreigners Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić

 

-          Secretary of the Ministry of Security of BiH, Bakir Dautbašić

 

-          Director of the Federation BiH Police Department Dragan Lukač

 

-          Director of the RS Police, Gojko Vasić

 

-          Chief of Police of the Brčko District, Goran Lujić

 

-          Representative of the Federation BiH Cantonal MoI Police Commissioners

 

-          Representatives of the U.S. Embassy in BiH and representatives of ICITAP

 

Representatives of other police, security and judicial agencies in BiH shall attend the coordination meetings of the Police Directors and Chief Prosecutor, when necessary

 

The meetings are organized pursuant to the rotation system by directors and head officials of the institutions involved in coordination.

 

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted the meeting in Sarajevo.
