INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR ILLICIT TRADE IN EXCISE PRODUCTS

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina issued an indictment against Halil Halilagić*, AKA "Halčo", born in 1966 in Goražde, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The accused is charged with procuring large quantities of cut tobacco for resale from persons known to him, which he kept in a facility within the house in the municipality of Ilidža in Sarajevo, where, using appropriate equipment, he illegally produced cigarettes for resale, which he then sold to citizens. During the search of the house and buildings carried out by SIPA members, dozens of kilograms of cut tobacco were found and seized, as well as equipment for the production of cigarettes. He is charged with having illegally produced and sold products that are not marked with control and tax stamps in the manner prescribed by the tax legislation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby committing the criminal offense - Illicit Trade in Excise Products under Article 210a paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.


INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENCE SMUGGLING OF PERSONS

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Slavko Ćup*, born in 1995 in Banja Luka, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia.
He is charged with having picked up two migrants, citizens of the Republic of Turkiye, in the Sarajevo area on 26 January 2023, with the intention of obtaining unlawful material gain, and with having brought them near the state border in the municipality of Posušje, all with the aim of enabling them to illegally cross the state border and travel to EU countries. When the migrants got out of the vehicle, crossed the state border and entered the territory of the Republic of Croatia, they were stopped and returned by officials of the Border Police of the Republic of Croatia. The accused is charged with having committed the criminal offence of Smuggling of Persons under Article 189, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
