PERSON SUSPECTED OF ATTEMPTING TO TRAVEL TO FOREIGN BATTLEFIELDS IN SYRIA AND IRAQ DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY IN SARAJEVO
27.12.2017. 15:57Pursuant to the order of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and in coordination and cooperation with BiH Intelligence and Security Agency operatives and SIPA officers, the suspect who was under investigation for unlawful joining to foreign paramilitary or parapolice formations, was arrested in the Sarajevo municipality of Novi Grad.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and security agencies have obtained information and evidence that this suspect has been in contact with people who are at Syrian and Iraqi battlefields i.e. the so called "ISIS ", and has asked about the ways of leaving and joining these formations.
The person in question is of a younger age.
After examining the suspect, the Assigned Prosecutor will decide on further activities in accordance with the law.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with the police and security agencies in BiH and abroad, continuously undertakes activities on detection, prevention and sanctioning of BiH citizens who intend to join foreign paramilitary or parapolice formations, which is prohibited by law to BiH citizens.
