BIH AND CROATIA ACT TOGETHER IN FIGHTING UNPUNISHED WAR CRIMES. GOOD RESULTS OF COOPERATION BETWEEN PROSECUTOR’S OFFICES OF BIH AND CROATIA BASED ON THE PROTOCOL ON COOPERATION IN WAR CRIMES CASES PROSECUTION

In view of the fact that extradition of these persons is currently impossible due to their Croatian citizenship, intensive activities have been initiated in order to enable prosecution of these suspects in the judicial institutions of the Republic of Croatia.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH welcomes the activities of detecting, prosecuting and punishing war crimes perpetrators as these activities represent an important and positive step forward in establishing the rule of law in the countries in the region.
Pursuant to the Protocol on Cooperation in Prosecution of Perpetrators of War Crimes, Crimes against Humanity and Genocide, signed in Sarajevo in mid last year, mutual cooperation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the State Attorney’s Office of the Republic of Croatia is being implemented almost daily, through liaison officers and authorized official persons.
Moreover, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH welcomes the activities initiated by the Croatian judiciary for the purpose of committing the convicted Dominik Ilijašević aka Como to serve his prison sentence imposed on him for the war crimes he had perpetrated. The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has worked intensively together with its Croatian colleagues to resolve this case.
