By order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Josip Tolić, suspected of having committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was deprived of liberty. BiH Border Police officers deprived the suspect of liberty by order of the Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

Tolić is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is suspected to have, as a member of 102 Odžak HVO Brigade, personally participated in psychological and physical abuse of Serb prisoners who had been captured in several prison camps located in Odžak and Bosanski Brod, during the period from May to October 1992.

He is suspected to have, as a commander of the guard, personally participated in the abuse of dozens of ethnic Serb victims on several occasions in several camps and detention facilities located in Odžak and Bosanski Brod. According to the evidence gathered, the victims were raped, abused and tortured in a very humiliating way in which the suspect personally participated. A number of prisoners have died as a result of torture and abuse.

The person deprived of liberty was handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor who will question the suspect and subsequently file a motion for remand in custody.
