CUSTODY MOTION FOR TWO FOREIGN CITIZENS FOR SMUGGLING MIGRANTS

12.01.2024. 14:39

The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a motion to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina to order the following suspects into custody:

CUSTODY MOTION FOR TWO FOREIGN CITIZENS FOR SMUGGLING MIGRANTS

- Murawski Klaudiusz Roman, born in 2002 in Glogow, Poland, citizen of Poland and

- Murawski Michal Jan, born in 1982 in Glogow, Poland, citizen of Poland.

The custody measure was proposed for the reasons described in Article 132 (1) (a) and (b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, because of the danger of flight of the suspects who would become unavailable to judicial authorities by leaving Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the danger that they could obstruct the investigation by being at large, conceal evidence and exert influence on witnesses or accomplices.

The suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is suspected that on 11 January of this year they smuggled 20 migrants of Afro-Asian origin in a Mercedes motor vehicle with the national registration number plates of the Republic of Poland. The smugglers and the smuggled persons were discovered at the small border crossing point Gabela during control at the border by the Border Police of BiH, after which they were deprived of their liberty. The found illegal migrants were handed over to members of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further processing.

The suspects are suspected of having committed the criminal offence of human smuggling in violation of Article 189 (1) of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Border Police, together with partner agencies, are constantly undertaking activities to prevent illegal migration and prosecute crimes related to the illegal migration in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
