CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR TWO SUSPECTS OF ORGANIZED CRIME AND HIGH CORRUPTION IN ‘THORN’ /’TRN’/ CASE

Having questioned the suspects in the presence of their lawyers, the assigned Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking that the measure of custody be ordered in respect of the two suspects who had been deprived of liberty in yesterday’s action of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior, conducted in the area of Banja Luka. 

CUSTODY PROPOSED FOR TWO SUSPECTS OF ORGANIZED CRIME AND HIGH CORRUPTION IN ‘THORN’ /’TRN’/ CASE

The Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina put forward a Motion for Custody in respect of the following suspects:

-       BOJAN ROGULJIĆ, born in 1981 in Banja Luka, a citizen of Bosnia and  Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia, and

-       NEDELJKO LUBURA, born in 1975, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a police officer, Head of the Professional Standards Unit of the Service for the Protection of Integrity and Legality of Operations within the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior.

The measure of custody has been requested due to the risk of he suspects’ flight and the danger that, if at large, the suspects may hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat or complete the criminal offense.

The aforementioned persons are under investigation in this case as they are suspected of having committed the criminal offence of Organised Crime, in conjunction with the criminal offences of Smuggling of Persons and Accessory after the Fact, as well as the criminal offence of Abuse of Office or Official Authority referred to in the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of the investigative and operational activities, information and evidence were gathered indicating that the suspected persons had organized themselves for the purpose of smuggling a person of security interest and wanted by international warrants for serious offences of organized crime in the region, including murder. The said person was smuggled from the territory of the EU to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which the suspects continued to help him hide.

The Motion of Custody has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner police institutions, continues the investigation with the aim of fully elucidating and documenting the illegal activities of the suspects and the commission of the criminal offences in this case.
