EXHUMATION IN KALINOVIK AREA COMPLETED

At the Dobro Polje site, the incomplete remains of at least nine people were found, which were forwarded for further forensic processing and identification of the victims through DNA analysis.

EXHUMATION IN KALINOVIK AREA COMPLETED

After several days of exhumation and search for the remains, the exhumation at the site in the canyon of the river Bistrica, in Dobro Polje, Kalinovik municipality, was completed today.

Over previous 15 days, investigators from the Special Department for War Crimes, on the order of the prosecutor working on the case, coordinated the work of authorised officials involved in the exhumation process that was attended by a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Missing Persons Institute (INO) BiH, International Commission on Missing Persons ICMP, SIPA police officers, as well as police officers from the police stations Foča and Kalinovik, who secured the site.

Today, the exhumation site was visited by the ICMP representative in BiH, as well as the representative of the UK Embassy to BiH.

Incomplete remains of at least nine people were found at the exhumation site, as well as several bones and remains, which were removed and sent to the pathology office in Visoko where forensic processing and identification of victims will be performed through DNA analysis.

Employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with partner institutions and agencies, are participating in the process of searching for the remains of missing persons in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
