All found remains will be sent for DNA analysis, in order to determine the identity of the victims.

 

A TOTAL OF SEVEN VICTIMS FOUND WITHIN THE EXHUMATION IN KALINOVIK

In the continuation of the exhumation at the of Dobro Polje site, Kalinovik municipality, the remains of two more victims were found in this mass grave and so the remains of at least seven persons have been found at this site so far, as well as several skeletal remains of large bones, which will significantly assist in establishing the identity of the missing persons whose remains were found.

An investigator from the Special Department for War Crimes is coordinating the work and activities of authorised persons, who participate in the exhumation process, which has been carried out at this very inaccessible location for seven days, in all weather conditions.

Following the completion of the exhumation process, the remains will be forwarded to the pathology department in Visoko, in order to begin the process of establishing the identities of the victims found in this area as soon as possible.

Traces of ligatures were found on the found remains, as well as damages caused by firearms, which will significantly help in the investigation in this case of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The exhumation process was attended by representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons - INO BiH, the International Commission for the Search for Missing Persons (ICMP) in BiH, a forensic pathologist who worked on the identification of remains, necessary workers and machinery, as well as SIPA police officers and RS MoI police officers who secured the exhumation site, which was visited in the previous days by representatives of international institutions involved in the process of searching for missing persons in BiH.

The information about the mentioned site and a mass grave there was learned through joint operative work of SIPA and the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
