ON THE BASIS OF THE INDICTMENT OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, THE SO FAR LARGEST FIRST INSTANCE SENTENCES FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND RELATED CRIMINAL OFFENCES IMPOSED

In the case relating to two indicted Afghan citizens, a sentence of 21 years in prison was imposed.

 

ON THE BASIS OF THE INDICTMENT OF THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, THE SO FAR LARGEST FIRST INSTANCE SENTENCES FOR HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND RELATED CRIMINAL OFFENCES IMPOSED

In the case concerning Amanullah Ishakil, aka ‘Boxer’, born in 2001 in Afghanistan, and Qais Khan, aka ‘Tiger’, born in 2001 in Ningahar, also a citizen of Afghanistan, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH proved the responsibility of the defendants for criminal offences of international human trafficking and smuggling of persons and proved the responsibility of the defendants for serious sexual abuse of an underage person, also a migrant and a foreign citizen, who was in an extremely difficult situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

Given that they were sentenced to 10 and 11 years in prison respectively by the first-instance judgment, the Prosecutor’s Office BiH welcomes the tightening of the criminal policy regarding these criminal offences. The Task Force for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings and Organised Illegal Immigration has also been informed about the state of affairs in this case.
