MEETING OF TASK FORCE FOR FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM AND STRENGTHENING CAPACITIES FOR FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM HELD

The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, chaired the meeting of the Task Force for fight against terrorism and preventing the threat of terrorism, which was held at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

MEETING OF TASK FORCE FOR FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM AND STRENGTHENING CAPACITIES FOR FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM HELD

At the meeting, Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadić presented the work and results of the Task Force, and the Head of the Terrorism Section, Ćazim Hasanspahić, presented the work of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the area of combating terrorism.

The main topics of the meeting were the review of the current situation and the continuation of cooperation between prosecutor’s offices, police, security and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with special emphasis on the prevention of the terrorist financing.

The meeting was attended by more than twenty (20) officials from prosecutor’s offices, police, security and law enforcement agencies from the state level of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from the levels of both entities and the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who presented the activities and results of their respective institutions in the fight against terrorism.

The importance of exchanging information at the level of the counter-terrorism Task Force was emphasized, as well as the opinion that the activities of the Working Group for drafting the Counter-Terrorism Strategy for the next period should be continued and accelerated, and the work on the cases pertaining to financing terrorist activities should be intensified, while finding adequate mechanisms to work on the prevention of terrorist financing and money laundering. In addition, there were discussions about the continuation of the initiated processes of deradicalization and resocialization of returnees from foreign battlefields, which requires the engagement of other segments of the society that can contribute in this area.

The meeting concluded that it would be necessary to continue the processes of education in the field of counter-terrorism, in all institutions responsible for such activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as exchange experiences through the Regional Group for fight against terrorism.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of international organizations that provide support in the activities aimed at fighting terrorism.
