WORKS ON EXHUMATION AND SEARCH FOR MISSING PERSONS COMMENCED AT TOMAŠICA SITE NEAR PRIJEDOR

An Investigator of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently at the inaccessible location in Tomašica - Grubinac stream, coordinating the activities of authorized persons at that location, where preparations for the exhumation and the process of search for missing persons have commenced.

There is information that the aforementioned site contains mortal remains of Bosniak victims killed in the Prijedor area, in 1992.

Representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of Bosnia and Herzegovina are present at the location, together with a doctor of forensic medicine, as well as with members of the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior from Prijedor who are securing the location, whereas the necessary mechanization is preparing access to the location.

The process of searching for missing victims from Prijedor at this location has commenced in coordination with the representatives of the victims’ association, who had received information about the location from a person of Serb ethnicity residing in the area.

The process of the preparation of exhumation and the exhumation itself will be continued in the days to follow.
