ACTING CHIEF PROSECUTOR GORDANA TADIĆ PARTICIPATES AT THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ‘JUSTICE AFTER THE HAGUE’ HELD IN ZAGREB

In her address at the Conference, she has highlighted the significance of regional cooperation in the prosecution of war crimes cases, as well as the importance of the support that the ICTY/MICT Office of the Prosecutor extends to regional prosecutor’s offices in their efforts to prosecute and punish war crimes.

The conference has been attended by the ICTY/MICT Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, as well as by prosecutors from the countries of the region.

Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gordana Tadić and the officials of the Special Department for War Crimes Izet Odobašić and Stanko Blagić have participated at the international conference in Zagreb entitled ‘Justice after The Hague’.

In her address, Acting Chief Prosecutor Tadić has emphasized that the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has indicted more than 800 persons for war crimes and serious violations of international humanitarian law, and that regional and international cooperation is imperative necessary for more efficient prosecution of war crimes.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is working on war crimes cases in accordance with the highest legal standards established by the ICTY, and prosecutors from this department are continuously attending specialised training sessions.

‘The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has cases in which the accused, suspects or witnesses are in neighbouring countries and it is willing to transfer such cases in order to prevent the impunity of war crimes, and the ministries of justice of the countries of the region should also be involved in this process’, Tadić has emphasized.

Representatives of the civil society, media, academic community and the diplomatic corps have also participated in the Conference’s work and discussed current issues related to the processing of war crimes after the end of the ICTY’s mandate.
