CUSTODY PROPOSED AGAINST THE PERSON SUSPECTED OF ORGANISED CRIME AND INTERNATIONAL SMUGGLING OF NARCOTIC DRUGS

Having questioned the suspect, the Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of the case has put forward a Motion seeking the measure of custody to be ordered against the following suspect:

-      Ante Tomas, born in 1959 in Drinovci- Grude, with prior convictions for the criminal offences of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs.

This suspect is under investigation as he is charged to have perpetrated, together with other persons and as part of the organised criminal group, smuggling, transporting, hiding and further distribution of larger quantities of the heroin narcotic drug, which was smuggled on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia.

He is also suspected to have continuously supplied the illegal narcotics market in Mostar and Herzegovina with the heroin narcotic drug.

The measure of custody has been proposed for the reasons set forth in Article 132, items a), b), c) and d) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the risk of flight and the danger that, if at large, the suspect might hinder the inquiry, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accessories, repeat the criminal offence or complete the criminal offence, as well as due to the general circumstances of the perpetration of the criminal offence in which releasing the suspect would result in disturbance of public and citizens.

The Motion for custody has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, whereas the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina resumes its intensive investigation against all the suspects in this case.
