SECOND INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST SAŠA CVETKOVIĆ FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE AREA OF BRATUNAC

Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued an Indictment against:

SECOND INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST SAŠA CVETKOVIĆ FOR WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE AREA OF BRATUNAC

-       Saša Cvetković, born in 1972 in Ljubovija, in the Republic of Serbia, a citizen of the Republic of Serbia, who has been remanded in custody.

This accused person is charged with acting in violation of the provisions of the Geneva Conventions relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war, during the war and an armed conflict between the Territorial Defence of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Army of Republika Srpska.

According to the allegations in the Indictment, in the course of June of 1992, unknown soldiers took three female persons out of the premises of the Sase Zinc and Lead Mine complex, in which Bosniak civilians were imprisoned, and they drove them in the direction of Bratunac and placed them in an abandoned house.

The accused Cvetković is charged with coming to that house in the evening, together with several other soldiers, and taking the victims to another abandoned house, where he committed rape and sexual abuse against one of the victims, as a consequence of which the victim suffered injuries to her physical integrity and mental health.

This is the second Indictment against the aforementioned accused person, which is a result of additional efforts that the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has invested into finding the witnesses and evidence of the commission the criminal offences charged against the accused.

This accused person is charged with the commission of the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilian Population, as referred to in Article 142 of the Criminal Code of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.  

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation.
