UPON THE ORDER OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, TWO SUSPECTS OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE AREA OF SARAJEVO DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY

Acting upon the order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) have deprived of liberty the following suspects in the area of Sarajevo:

 

UPON THE ORDER OF THE BIH PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE, TWO SUSPECTS OF WAR CRIMES COMMITTED IN THE AREA OF SARAJEVO DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY

- Samir Kešmer, born in 1974,

- Mirsad Menzilović, born in 1975.

The aforementioned suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and they are charged, as members of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the commission of serious violations of international humanitarian law during the war and armed conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina between the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Army of Republika Srpska.

They are charged to have committed multiple sexual abuse and rape in 1993, in one of the neighbourhoods of Sarajevo, against an underage girl of Serb ethnicity who lived in the area of the city of Sarajevo which was controlled by the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the day, these suspects will be handed over to the Prosecutor in charge of this case and questioned, after which a decision to file a motion for pre-trial custody or for prohibiting measures will be made in accordance with the law.
