CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE U.S. EMBASSY IN BIH

Chief Prosecutor- Goran Salihović met with Mr. Paul Vaky and Mr. Robert Thomson, U.S. Administration Officials involved in the rule of law and judicial reform processes.

CHIEF PROSECUTOR MET WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF THE U.S. EMBASSY IN BIH

The process of judicial reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina was discussed at the meeting as well as the efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the fight against organized crime, terrorism and trafficking in persons.

Chief Prosecutor informed the representatives of the U.S. Administration about the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the fight against all types of crimes and about the increase in the number of indictments in all departments, especially in the Special Department for War Crimes. The Chief Prosecutor also spoke about the efforts to strengthen the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, effective judicial reform, functional and independent legal system, as well as protection of those holding judicial functions.

The visitors were also informed about the fact that the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH is an institution that works together with police and security agencies of Bosnia and Herzegovina to combat terrorism and to prosecute persons who support terrorism and terrorist activities in any way.

The future efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in tackling all forms of serious crime were also discussed at the meeting.

Representatives of the U.S. Embassy voiced their support for the efforts of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and the process of establishing the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the countries in the region.
