A Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed a motion for remand in custody for the following suspects:

MOTION FOR REMAND IN CUSTODY FILED FOR TWO PERSONS SUSPECTED OF COUNTERFEITING OF MONEY

-    Nevenko Božičić, born on April 24, 1960 in Orašje - municipality of Prnjavor, residing in Novi Sad - Republic of Serbia, with registered residence in Prnjavor in BiH, citizen of BiH, Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia, and

-   Slavko Bibić, born on August 13, 1965 in Zlopoljac - Bihać municipality, residing in Novi Sad - Republic of Serbia, with registered residence in Prijedor in BIH, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia.

The suspects, for whom remand in custody is requested, were deprived of liberty by authorized officers of SIPA, in cooperation with members of the Border Police on August 18, 2014 after which they were handed over, within the legal deadline, to the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The suspects are charged with the criminal offense of Counterfeiting of Money under Article 205 of the CC BiH.

They are suspected with having made or procured from persons known to them a greater amount of counterfeit banknotes in denominations of $ 100 which they repeatedly smuggled into BiH territory from the Republic of Serbia in 2014 and then exchanged the counterfeit bills at the post office counters and exchange offices in several towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina thus putting them into circulation.

The suspects were stopped on August 18, 2014 at the border crossing on entering the country by the BiH Border Police. The counterfeit money amounting to $ 19,900 was found and seized on that occasion and the suspects arrested.

Following the questioning of the suspects the Assigned Prosecutor filed a motion to the Court of BiH for remand in custody on the grounds set out in Article 132, Paragraph 1,  Subparagraphs a) and c) of the CPC BiH.

Remand in custody is, inter alia, requested due to circumstances which indicate that there is a risk that the suspects would flee, as well as grounded suspicion that the suspects, if released, would repeat the criminal offense they are charged with or commit a similar one.

Motion for remand in custody has been submitted to the Court of BiH.
