PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BiH INITIATED CHECKS DUE TO 1970 DEBTORS WHO FAILED TO PAY VALUE ADDED TAX IN THE AMOUNT OF 296 MILLION BAM

Upon the order of the Chief Prosecutor, a team of Prosecutors has been formed in the Prosecutor’s office of BiH to conduct intensive checks of the VAT arrears for approximately 1970 legal persons and economic entities whose names have recently been published, in order to determine whether there are elements for criminal prosecution of persons responsible for tax evasions and failure to pay taxes.

Having disclosed the list of tax debtors who owe approximately 296 million BAM due to failure to pay taxes, customs and excise, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH initiated intensive checks and it will request the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH to provide them with detailed information and reports on tax debtors in order to determine possible criminal liability.

Failure to pay taxes constitutes a criminal offense, and multimillion debts represent a direct attack on economic and commercial system of Bosnia and Herzegovina and lives of all the citizens in our country.
