EXHUMATION OF BODIES OF THE VICTIMS FROM THE PAST WAR COMMENCED AT THE BUĆA POTOK CITY DUMP

An exhumation at the Buća Potok City Dump in Sarajevo commenced under the supervision of an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. At the site of Buća Potok City Dump in Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, an exhumation commenced and incomplete mortal remains of one body were found. This exhumation will continue in the coming days.

Samples from this body will be taken for DNA analysis, in order to establish the victim’s identity. The DNA analysis of these samples will be performed in the laboratory of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP).

The mortal remains of the found body will be transported to the Miljevići Memorial Ossuary in Istočno Sarajevo /East Sarajevo/, where they will remain until the forensic analysis and identification process have been completed.

The exhumation process was supervised by an Investigator of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who coordinated the work of police, forensic and other authorized officers carrying out the exhumation process, in accordance with the instructions given by the Prosecutor.  

This exhumation was attended by representatives of the BiH Institute for Missing Persons, representatives of the State Investigation and Protection Agency- SIPA, an expert forensic pathologist and an Investigator of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, along with other institutions involved in the process of tracing the missing persons in BiH, continues its activities in the process of conducting exhumations and tracing missing persons in all parts of BiH.
