The Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Zoran MILIĆ aka "Maslanica" - born on April 28, 1962 in the municipality of Busovača where he resides, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia - charging him with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians committed in Busovača in central Bosnia.
The accused MILIĆ is currently in custody, which was requested on grounds of existence of special reasons for remand in custody referred to in Article 132, Paragraph 1, Subparagraphs a) and b) of the CPC BiH.
The accused Zoran MILIĆ is charged to have, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the armed conflict between the Army of BiH and the HVO, as a member of the HVO, acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention of August 12,1949 relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Times of War and to the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Zoran MILIĆ is, inter alia, charged to have, on April 26, 1993 at around 10:00 p.m. in Busovača - central Bosnia, together with Zoran Marinić - member of HVO Busovača who was indicted last year and whose trial is scheduled to start on April 12, 2013 - fired a gun and used a knife thus participating in the killing of four Bosniak civilians and wounding of one Bosniak civilian during an attack on their family houses.
An eighty five year old man and a severely disabled middle-aged man were killed in the attack. Several hours later a sixteen-year old boy died from injuries sustained. Two days later one young girl also died from injuries sustained.
During this attack on Bosniak civilians, Zoran MILIĆ participated in the burning of their homes.
The case v. Zoran MARINIĆ and Zoran MILIĆ falls under the so-called "Category II" cases because it was transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH from the Hague Tribunal.
The accused Zoran MILIĆ is charged with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173, Paragraph 1, Subparagraphs c) and f) of the Criminal Code of BiH in conjunction with Article 29 and Article 180, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.
The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
