The Global Judicial Integrity Network was launched in April 2018 in Vienna, under the auspices of the United Nations.
Prosecutors and expert staff of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, together with international experts, exchanged experiences and positive practices in prosecuting war crimes, organised crime, corruption, financial crime, human trafficking and terrorism.
The topics for discussion at the meeting were results achieved, plans and priorities for the future.
A team of Prosecutors has been appointed in order to ensure a more expedient and efficient prosecution of the case in question.
In the case against Ljuban Ećim, who is charged with committing Crimes against Humanity in Kotor Varoš and surrounding area, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH formally proposed the summoning of 261 witnesses and provided about 1450 pieces of material evidence, as well as the Record on Questioning of the Suspect.
On 17 January 2020 the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH received a confirmed indictment and a notice from a Preliminary Hearing Judge of the Court of BiH, which confirm the Indictment in the case v. Dragan Mektić et al. in its entirety with respect to all the accused persons.
The central topic of the meeting was the cooperation of CEPOL and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH in the framework of the activities of the agency in the region of the Western Balkans.
The suspects transported to BiH are under investigation for criminal offenses of Organizing a Terrorist Group (Article 202d), Unlawful Establishing and Joining to Foreign Paramilitary or Parapolice Formations (Article 162b) and Terrorism (Article 201) of the CC BiH.
Analysis of the cooperation to date with an overview of the key challenges and issues identified in practice, as well as examples of successful cooperation were the main topics of the meeting.
The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, Gordana Tadić, together with her Deputy Chief Prosecutor and the Prosecutor from the prosecution team working on the Memić case, met with Muriz and Arijana Memić, as well as the family’s legal representative, attorney Ifet Feraget.
