DETENTION MOTION FOR THE CITIZEN OF PAKISTAN SUSPECTED OF MIGRANT SMUGGLING

29.09.2023. 11:25
The prosecutor-in-charge of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH sent to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a motion to order the following suspect into custody:
  • DETENTION MOTION FOR THE CITIZEN OF PAKISTAN SUSPECTED OF MIGRANT SMUGGLING

-         Taimur Hassan, born in 2003 in Pakistan, citizen of Pakistan.

The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH and is suspected that on 26 September this year he, together with persons known to him, took part in the smuggling of two groups of a total of 20 illegal migrants-individuals from the territory of Afghanistan, who did not meet the conditions for legal entry and stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and who were illegally transported across the Drina River by boat, from the territory of Serbia to the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The suspect was discovered in the commission of the criminal offence, within an operation conducted by the BiH Border Police which, during the night hours, spotted smugglers and migrants, among them also a minor, in Meterize near Zvornik, and after the second transport of migrants, the members of the Border Police deprived the suspect of his freedom while his accomplice is still being sought.

The detention measure was proposed due to the danger of the suspect’s flight, who would become inaccessible to the judicial authorities if he left Bosnia and Herzegovina.
