INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF TERRORISM

13.01.2021. 08:48
The accused Jahja Vuković (1999) aka Abdul-Aziz is charged that from 2014 to 2020 he stayed in Syria where he fought in the ranks of the terrorist organisation Al Nusra Front, which was declared a terrorist organisation by the UN Security Council.
  • INDICTMENT ISSUED FOR CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF TERRORISM

A prosecutor of the Terrorism Section filed an indictment against:

-       Jahja Vuković, born in 1999 in Bihać, extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina on 22 October 2020, since when he has been in custody.

The accused is charged that on 16 June 2014 he left Bosnia and Herzegovina and left for Germany from where, after about two months, he flew to the Republic of Turkey and then illegally crossed the border between Turkey and Syria with an intention to join terrorist groups operating in the area.

Evidence was gathered that the accused joined formations within the Jabhat Al Nusra Front (Al-Nusra Front) and terrorist groups operating in Syria, which had been declared terrorist organisations by the UN Security Council, and the members of which, through armed operations, such as attacks on the population, killings, illegal imprisonment, hostage-taking and other actions, committed terrorist acts with an intention of forcibly changing the constitutional order and regime.

The indictment alleges that the accused stayed in the said area together with other persons from Bosnia and Herzegovina who stayed in Syria with the same intention, and under the name Abdul-Aziz took part in terrorist activities, provided assistance and fought on the side of Jabhat Al Nusra Front forces.

The accused stayed in Syria until the collapse and defeat of the so-called “ISIL” structures, after which he hid in the territory of the Republic of Turkey, where he was detected, deprived of liberty and extradited to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accused is charged with becoming a member of a terrorist group and providing assistance to the terrorist group, thereby committing the criminal offence of Organising a Terrorist Group under Article 202d (2) as read with paragraph (1) thereof, all in conjunction with Article 201 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia. and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will prove the allegations of the indictment by calling several witnesses and expert experts, including witnesses with granted protective measures, and by enclosing material evidence.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH.
