The accused Ivan Đurić (1971) is charged with crimes committed against Bosniak and Croat victims in Brčko in 1992. This case is related to the cases tried before the ICTY for crimes in Brčko.
  • WAR CRIMES INDICTMENT ISSUED IN BRČKO

A prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes has filed an indictment against:

- Ivan Đurić, born in 1971 in Bijeljina, a citizen of BiH.

The accused is charged that during the war and armed conflict, he as a member of the VRS Military Police acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.

The indictment alleges that in 1992, in the Brčko area, he, together with other members of the VRS, was personally and directly involved in crimes against Bosniak and Croat victims who were illegally detained in the Luka camp in Brčko.

He is charged that during the month of May 1992, he came to a hangar of the Luka camp in Brčko, where he tortured, beat, abused, robbed, inflicted permanent injuries with a cold weapon and carried out other inhumane acts for several consecutive days over detained civilians, thus inflicting to them permanent bodily and mental harm and consequences.

The commission of the said crimes is linked to the war crimes cases committed in Brčko, which were tried before the ICTY in The Hague.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
