Acting pursuant to an Order of a Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina have deprived of liberty one suspected border police officer from the Brčko Border Crossing.

The conducted investigation has shown that the aforementioned suspect requested and received a gift from three citizens attempting to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina from the territory of the Republic of Croatia in order to make possible for them to enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without the necessary documents, after which he let them enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without subjecting them to the necessary procedures of the competent sanitary and health authorities, all of which is contrary to the valid instructions and orders related to the treatment of the citizens entering Bosnia and Herzegovina in the process of issuing decisions on self-isolation.

After the aforementioned incident has been detected and an investigation conducted, the said citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the wider area of Brčko were identified and located and subsequently subjected to the procedure which was initiated in accordance with the provisions defining the steps to be taken in order to prevent the dissemination of Coronavirus COVID-19.

The aforementioned suspect will be brought to the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina during the day, where he will be questioned by the Prosecutor in charge of the respective case, who will then put forward a motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina asking for the measure of custody to be ordered.

The suspect is under investigation due to the commission of the criminal offence of Accepting Gifts and Other Forms of Benefit referred to in Article 217 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
