TWO SUSPECTS OF CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY ON ORDERS OF PROSECUTOR FROM SPECIAL DEPARTMENT FOR WAR CRIMES

The suspects are under investigation and they are charged with crimes against Bosniak victims, which were committed in 1992, in the area of Foča.  
  • TWO SUSPECTS OF CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY DEPRIVED OF LIBERTY ON ORDERS OF PROSECUTOR FROM SPECIAL DEPARTMENT FOR WAR CRIMES

Acting pursuant to an Order issued by a Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) located, identified and deprived of liberty the following suspects in the area of Foča:

 

1. Radovan Paprica aka ‘Papro’, born in 1953 in Foča

 

2. Slavko Ognjenović aka ‘Mačak’ born in 1965 in Foča.

 

These suspects are subject to investigation conducted by the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina as they are suspected of acting, as a members of the Republika Srpska Army, in contravention of the provisions of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, during the widespread and systematic attack against the civilian Bosniak population from the area of Foča and its surroundings.

 

These persons are suspected to have committed the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity, as referred to in Article 172 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

 

In the course of the day, the suspects will be brought before the Prosecutor in charge of the case who will question them and subsequently decide whether to file a motion for custody and what further activities will be taken in the case.

 

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina is working on a significant number of war crimes cases that contain elements of rape and sexual abuse and are therefore particularly sensitive cases of war crimes that have left serious consequences on victims and injured parties.
