COUNTER TERRORISM OPERATIVE GROUP MEETING HELD AT THE PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF BIH

Meeting of the Counter Terrorism Operative Group was held at the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH today. The meeting was chaired by the Chief Prosecutor - Goran Salihović together with the Minister of Security of BiH - Dragan Mektić.

The meeting was attended by representatives of all BiH police and security agencies from the state level as well as from the Entities and Brčko District of BiH and Assigned Prosecutors of the Section for Terrorism within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

The central theme of the meeting was organization of safety for the visit of Pope Francis to Sarajevo, whose arrival is planned on June 6, as well as implementation of all operational measures aimed at preventing any security threats.

The Chief Prosecutor pointed out that the  names of all members of the  Counter Terrorism Operative Group will soon be confirmed, which will strongly improve inter-agency data exchange and efficient exchange of information with other countries in the region, Europe and the world. 

Security Minister stressed the great importance of the fight against terrorism, and voiced his strong support for the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the members of the Operative Group, and to all other security agencies in the fight against terrorism.

Members of the Operative Group shall deliver all information about persons who are associated with commission of criminal offenses of terrorism to the Prosecutor’s Office after which activities will be undertaken to prevent the commission of terrorist activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Representatives of the FBI and the US Embassy in Sarajevo attended the meeting and have expressed their support for the work of the Counter Terrorism Operative Group and added that they will continue to assist the Operative Group with provision of international legal assistance in the fight against terrorism.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its intensive activities in the fight against terrorism, as well as in detection and prevention of any terrorist activities.
