SAVO BABIĆ (1944) APPREHENDED
25.06.2012. 15:39By order of the Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the authorized police officers of the State Agency for Investigation and Protection - SIPA, have , in the morning hours, arrested Savo BABIĆ (born in 1944) in the area of Bratunac.
The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is suspected to have been a commander of the Military Police of the VRS in May 1992 and as such responsible for the illegal capture of several hundred of Bosniaks in the "Vuk Karadžić" school in Bratunac.
The captured civilians were detained in inhumane conditions, subjected to beatings, torture and killings, which resulted in the death of at least 60 victims.
The suspect was handed over to the Assigned Prosecutor who shall question him and then decide whether to submit a motion for custody or not.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH continues its activities in this case with the aim of issuing an indictment.
