INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST BOŠKIĆ MARKO

The BiH Prosecutor's Office issued an indictment against Marko Boškic, charging him with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity - Persecution under Article 172, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph h) in conjunction with Subparagraph a) of the same Article of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Prosecutor of the Regional Team VI of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against Marko Boškić, born on  July 9, 1964 in Tuzla, with no reported residence in BiH, who was arrested on April 28, 2009 at 14:55 PM at the Sarajevo International Airport, a citizen of BiH and Croatia, who, having being deported from the United States, is currently in custody.

Marko Boškić is charged with the following: in the period from July 10 to November 1, 1995, during the armed conflict in Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which the members of the VRS (RS Army) and the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska (RS MoI) have undertaken widespread and systematic attacks against Bosniak civilians in the UN protected zone of Srebrenica, as a member of the 10th Commando Squad of the VRS Head Quarters participated in the persecution of the Bosniak civilian population on political, national, ethnic, cultural and religious grounds.

The indictment, inter alia, alleges that the accused has on July 16, 1995 in the period from 10.00 to 15.00 hours, knowing that the captured Bosniak men shall be shot at Branjevo farm in the village of Pilica  - municipality of Zvornik, along with seven other members of the 10th Commando Squad, acting on orders of Pećanac Dragomir and Milorad Pelemiš, participated in the summary execution  of hundreds of men captured in the Bosnian enclave of Srebrenica, some of whom had blindfolds, by firing from automatic guns with the intent to kill. These prisoners were detained in the elementary school in Pilica and were transported by buses to the execution site in Branjevo. Only two prisoners survived the executions.

The accused is charged with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity - persecution under Article 172 Paragraph 1, Subparagraph h) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Paragraph 1, Subparagraph a) Depriving another person of his life of the same article, all in conjunction with Article 29 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH) and Article 180, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The indictment was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
