The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, and her associates have participated at an online conference of Prosecutors and experts specialized in prosecuting criminal offenses related to human trafficking and providing support and protection to victims.

At the meeting, Prosecutors and experts discussed their experiences in prosecuting criminal offenses of human trafficking the purpose of which was exploitation of victims in various ways, and Jessica E. Hart, Director of the Office for Victims of Crime within the United States Department of Justice, shared their experiences related to the judicial aspect of this issue and activities undertaken to protect and care for victims and keep data and records on registered victims of human trafficking, as well as the efforts of states and governments invested in providing financial assistance to victims, and all other important issues from this area.

In her introductory address, Chief Prosecutor Tadić welcomed the conference participants and emphasized the importance of prosecuting the criminal offenses of human trafficking and protecting victims and fundamental values ​​safeguarded by international conventions on human rights, and she noted that these cases would be priority in the work of the prosecutor’s offices in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in the work of the Task Force for Combatting Human Trafficking and Illegal Migrations.

One of the speakers was Senad Osmić, Prosecutor from the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who shared his experiences with the conference participants related to his work on such cases, particularly in the field of protection of victims of human trafficking.

Тhe meeting was organized by the U.S. Department of Justice, with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo.
