On the order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, an extensive operation within fight against drugs has been carried out from early morning hours in the area of Bijeljina and the surrounding area.

SIPA police officers have located and discovered a specially constructed plantation with air-conditioning-technical conditions for growing marijuana – ‘skunk’ with a high percentage of THC substance.

The plantation was placed under police supervision and three people linked to illegal cultivation and smuggling of drugs were deprived of their liberty.

An investigator from the Special Department for Organised Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption is on the scene in the field where they co-ordinate the work of law-enforcement agencies taking part in the operation.

According to the evidence collected, marijuana – ‘skunk’ of extremely strong narcotic effect was grown on the said plantation, under special conditions, it was intended for the narcotics market in BiH and was also smuggled and sold on the narcotics market of the Republic of Austria.

As part of the operation, significant cooperation with partner institutions of the Republic of Austria was achieved.

Persons deprived of their liberty will be handed over to the prosecutor on the case who will interrogate them, after which a decision on further activities in the case will be made.
