A Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH issued an indictment against Zekić Miloš charging him with war crimes committed in the territory of Šekovići.

He is charged with having, while acting in his capacity as a member of the VRS /RS Army/ in May 1992, arrived armed to a facility in Šekovići where the captured Bosniak civilians from the villages of Osmaci and Memići were kept and with having shot from a shotgun through the window of the facility following the refusal of a guard to open the door and give him the keys, thus killing four Bosniaks.

An indictment was issued against the accused Zekić charging him with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173 of the CC BiH.

Considering the fact that the defendant was not found at the address when orders for his arrest were issued, and that he does not appear at the hearings, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH filed a motion to the Court of BiH to issue an international arrest warrant for the suspect.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will also use all available instruments of regional and international cooperation to ensure that the suspect is brought to justice.

In the past few years a number of war crimes suspects were located, arrested and extradited from the United States, Israel, Spain and the countries of the region, indicating that the suspects cannot hide and the concluded Protocols on cooperation between the prosecutor’s’ offices in the region are facilitating the actual locating of the suspects.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will make every effort, together with other institutions in BiH and abroad, to ensure that the accused Zekić Miloš is located and prosecuted for the crimes that he is charged with.
