FIRST WORKING MEETING OF THE CHIEF PROSECUTORS WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE PROTOCOL ON COOPERATION HELD IN PODGORICA
03.06.2014. 15:38The meeting was attended by the Heads of the institutions - Chief Prosecutor, Goran Salihović and Acting Supreme State Prosecutor, Veselin Vučković.
The specific activities concerning the exchange of information in war crimes cases, which require cooperation due to the fact that the suspected perpetrators or victims of war crimes are located in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro, were discussed at the meeting.
The Protocol on Cooperation, which was signed in Brussels two months ago, and concrete cooperation between the two prosecutor’s offices in prosecution of war crimes cases are supported by formal structures in Brussels and the EU, as well as the ICTY’s Office of the Prosecutor.
It was agreed that the next meeting would be held in Sarajevo.
The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH continues its activities on strengthening the regional cooperation of prosecutors’ offices in order to prevent suspected war criminals in hiding from prosecution due to the fact that they are located in another country.
The rule of law and the prosecution of war crimes are priorities in the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
