The Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH - Goran Salihović and the President of the Court of BiH - Meddžida Kreso met with the British judicial delegation led by Simon Hughes, the Minister of Justice and Civil Liberties of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

During the meeting, the Chief Prosecutor stressed the importance of judicial independence and non-interference of politics through adoption of unfavorable legislation underpinning the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH, as well as laws governing the status of judges and prosecutors in the judicial system.

 

He also stressed that the priorities of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH are fight against corruption and organized crime and war crimes cases.

 

Mr. Simon Hughes stated that it is crucial to keep the judiciary independent and that the United Kingdom will, together with the EU, continue its support to an independent judiciary.
