INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST THREE PERSONS FOR WAR CRIMES TWO OF THE ACCUSED ACTIVE POLICE OFFICERS

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against three persons charging them with the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173, Paragraph 1, Subparagraph c), in conjunction with Article 180, Paragraph 1 and Article 29 of the CC BiH.
  • INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST THREE PERSONS FOR WAR CRIMES TWO OF THE ACCUSED ACTIVE POLICE OFFICERS

The Prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes within the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued an indictment against the following persons:

-        Azem Ibrović (1970), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Serbia,

-        Enes Maksumić (1969), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and

-        Jusuf Hindić (1954), a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accused are charged to have, in their capacities i.e. Azem Ibrović and Enes Maksumić as active police officers of the Public Security Station Jablanica and Jusuf Hindić as member of the 44th BH Army Brigade, acted contrary to Articles 3 and 147 of the Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Times of War of August 12, 1949 and Article 75, Paragraph 2, Subparagraph a) of the Additional Protocol on International Armed Conflicts from the same Geneva Convention, during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the conflict between the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Croatian Defense Council.

They are charged to have, on the night of July 28/29, 1993 in detention facility "Museum - Battle of Neretva" in Jablanica where Croat civilians and captured Croatian Defense Council members were incarcerated, participated in violence against life, health or physical or mental well-being of persons, and more specifically in the inhumane treatment and torture of any kind.

Torture and inhumane treatment resulted in the infliction of serious bodily injuries to one injured party.

The indictment, along with supporting evidence, was forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
