INDICTMENT ISSUED AGAINST DRAŽEN KEŠKO (1968)

Prosecutor of the Department III has issued an Indictment against Dražen Keško, born on 27 November 1968 in Zenica, where he also resides, citizen of BiH, officer of the Indirect Taxation Authority in Banja Luka, Banja Luka Regional Center, employed as an Assistant Customs Officer at the Border Crossing in Brod, for Illegal Withholding of Identity Papers.

The Indictment charges Dražen Keško with taking the identity card and a laptop from a passenger who travelled by bus, on 27 November 2009 around 5 PM, at the Border Crossing in Brod, while performing his duty of an Assistant Customs Officer and inspecting the goods for customs clearance, because that passenger did not have money to pay for the customs fees presented by the accused Dražen Keško.

As alleged in the Indictment, Dražen Keško told the aforementioned passenger to leave the border crossing immediately because he could not stay long there, but to be back by the end of his shift; subsequently, frightened by such an exercise of power and restriction of freedom of movement, the passenger moved away from the respective border crossing and went to a petrol station in the vicinity of the border crossing, while the bus with other passengers continued its trip without him.

The accused Dražen Keško is charged with illegal withholding of the other person’s identity papers with the aim of restricting his freedom of movement or exercising his power over that person, thereby committing the criminal offense of Illegal Withholding of Identity Papers, as referred to in Article 149a of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The Indictment has been forwarded to the Court of BiH for confirmation.
